2019 Coachella Inspired DIY Swim Suit

Welcome to my tutorial for the 2019 Coachella Inspired DIY TAPE swim suit!

This was a very simple DIY project inspired by this year’s (2019) Coachella trend of metallic tape bikini’s! Joel Alvarez, who is a Miami based photographer and designer has been working on the trend since he photographed a model several years back, who suggested using electrical tape to cover her body, and the trend took Coachella by storm!
... So without further ado let’s gather our supplies!
You will need:
*scissors
*metallic tape
*alcohol wipes or soap and water

You can use an alcohol wipe or just wash with soap and water and dry thoroughly for this step. As long as there is no residue or product on the skin, the tape will stick better.

The tape I used was Duct tape mini's metallic tape from Michael's ($3 before 40% off coupon) but you could use any metallic tape. This part was fun because you can cut whatever shapes you want! I mainly just cut triangles and rhombuses etc. but only your imagination is the limit! I pretty much cut my shapes as I went an just pieced them together leaving small gaps between each piece.

For this step, you can also let your imagination go wild! I just started piecing shapes together (remembering to leave small spaces between each piece of tape). You can create any style of swimsuit that you want! I didn't personally go in the water with the tape on, so I can't attest to how it would hold up. But, for a festival or some other type of party I think it would stay on pretty well, as I did have a hard time getting all the pieces off!
