Instructions how to adjust the length of car wiper blade without cutting it. This applies to blades with aerotwin adapter or similar.

The wiper blade consists of two metal strips, held together with plastic braces each side, and an adapter in the centre. The idea is to slide the adapter increasing its length on one side and correspondingly shortening it in the other.

Supplies

Flat screw drivers, wooden block or mat, plastic tie and/or hot glue gun or similar.

Remove Plastic Braces

Press pins using flat screw driver or something similar and slightly push out plastic braces. It’s not advisable to use sharp tools as they may pierce/damage the plastic.

Remove Plastic Adapter

Plastic adapter can only be removed after the plastic braces on each side of wiper blade have been removed. The adapter fits tightly onto the metal strips and is glued in place. Place the adapter on a mat or a wooden block to avoid its damaging. And lightly punch out the metal strips out of the adapter.

Assemble the wiper blade by first installing the adapter and then the braces on each side. To prevent the adapter from sliding, clink it with a plastic tie or similar and cut off any excess. Check the desired length on car by installing wiper blade and activating/moving the wiper to ensure the length is adjusted correctly and doesn’t interfere with anything.

Optional Adding Glue

This step is optional. The plastic tie may be enough to secure the adapter in place. However, to make sure that it doesn’t slide around, consider adding a few drops of glue. I used hot glue, as it’s easy to remove. You can use whatever you have in your disposal.

Optional Replace Blade

Now that you know how to easily disassemble wiper blade. You can replace a rubber blade when needed by purchasing replacement refills.
