This project introduces an autonomous deep-sea forensic data rescue system utilizing an ESP32 microcontroller

. It is housed in a titanium capsule enclosure and equipped with a pressure sensor and a solenoid valve to safely recover vital data and telemetry from extreme underwater environments.

Supplies

Espressif ESP32 Microcontroller

MyOctopus i2c Barometric Air Pressure Sensor BMP280

Solenoid Valve, 2 Way

Titanium Grade-5 Capsule Enclosure

Introduction & System Overview

Description: This project presents an autonomous titanium capsule utilizing the ESP32 microcontroller designed for deep-sea data recovery and emergency telemetry

. It ensures reliable data retrieval and communication in extreme underwater environments, tackling the major challenges of deep-sea exploration and black box recovery.

Hardware & Connections

Description:

  1. The core processing unit is powered by the Espressif ESP32 microcontroller.
  2. Environmental pressure and depth are precisely monitored using the MyOctopus i2c Barometric Air Pressure Sensor (BMP280).
  3. A 2-Way Solenoid Valve is integrated to control the pneumatic/hydraulic release pathways for the internal piston activation system.
  4. All components work together to execute emergency telemetry and data rescue operations under deep-sea conditions.

Firmware & Code Implementation

Description: This step includes the MicroPython firmware used for the ESP32 microcontroller

. It continuously reads depth and pressure data from the sensor connected to ADC pin 34, and safely controls the 2-way solenoid valve on pin 15 to trigger the rescue mechanism once the critical threshold is reached.
