Bat Sculpture

I created a wooden sculpture of a Bat as a decorative piece to stand on a desk or a shelf

Tools:

1. Hand Saw
2. Hatchet
3. Pocket Knife
4. Sand Paper
5. Wood from my tree

The first step in creating this sculpture was finding wood to carve. I decided to cut a dead branch off my tree at home.

Next I began cutting off material. I cut all the bark off the wood using a hatchet. Then I cut the wood in half using a saw. Eventually I began cutting out a basic shape for the sculpture

The final step in the process was whittling and sanding. After I cut down the basic shape I began using a small pocket knife to cut out the final shape. Afterwards the only thing left to do was sand It. I used various grits to end up with a smooth finish.
