After giving up meat for lent we have tried just about everything. After a lot of experimenting and trying certain things I have got to say that this is the best non-meat meal. Actually made these the day before Easter, so, it could be I've forgotten what a big fat cheeseburger tastes like. Oh well. Either way, they were awesome.

Ingredients.

1 egg
1/2 bell pepper chopped
1/2 sweet onion chopped
one can of black beans
1/2 cup of bread crumbs
1/2 tea spoon of Texas Pete
1/2 tablespoon of chili powder
1 teaspoon of minced garlic

Drain the beans and combine everything but the onion and pepper in a blender. This gets it about 50%. I then put into a small bowl and smash with a big spoon with holes. The consistency will be super sticky creamy. now add the onion, pepper, and some shredded cheese(optional). mix until texture is consistent. It should be as thick as soft serve ice cream. Add a little bread crumbs to thicken and add a little bit of egg to loosen if necessary.

Normally I would throw them on the grill outside but it has been raining cats and dogs all day long. I spray a little Pam on top and bottom of the George. There is no need to party them out. Just get a hand or spoon full and spread out in the shape of a party. make the thickness about 3/4". When cooking this way, close the lid and cook for 15 minutes then flip and cook for 5 minutes. If you melt cheese on yours leave the lid open for five minutes. We had a great complimentary side, sweet potato fries and tots. Also toasted the buns while the toaster hot.

Throw down some fancy ketchup, mustard, and dill chip pickles and gobble it up.
