Boot Jack

I made a wooden boot jack on the 3D modeling application solid works. The point of this device is too remove your boot for you. You just stick your foot in-between the fork and it will pull it off. I would have actually build the boot jack but I broke my finger and I am in a cast and cant use my hand to the full extent (I'm going to build it sometime this summer when my finger heals).

Supplies

2 1X6 ft pieces of wood it doesn't matter which kind but I used poplar

jigsaw

cordless drill

sand paper

hand clamps

sand paper

varnish or paint

wood glue

tape measure

pencil

Cut the Wood

Using a jigsaw cut a 18 inch long piece out of one the boards. Trace your heel or a candle about 3-1/2" away from the end. The radius should be no more than 2" in diameter. To elevate the top board off of the ground cut a 2 inch tall piece 5 inches wide. This piece goes on the bottom. Sand paper is not required but it will make your boot jack look a lot better. Remember before you cut use a pencil to mark your lines.

Attaching the Pieces

after everything is cut use the wood glue to attach the stand to the underside of the fork. Then from the bottom drill 2-4 screws into the stand but make sure to not go through the top of the jack. After that apply the paint or varnish of your choice.

If you want to add In grooves that not only look good but help reduce slip you can use a router. A metal plate could also work but It would not be as efficient.
