Bottle Holder
In this project, I will show you how I created a 3D printed bottle holder using my Creality Ender 3 printer. During the process, I faced a major issue with filament, learned how to troubleshoot it, and successfully completed the project.
This guide will not only help you build a bottle holder but also teach you how to identify and fix common 3D printing filament problems.

Getting the Files
I started by downloading the 3D model files from a website. Unfortunately, I lost the link, but I still had the files saved on my system.
These files included:
- Base of the bottle holder
- Inner plate (support piece)
- Other structural parts
Printing the Inner Plate
I began printing using PLA filament on Creality Ender 3.
- The inner plate, which sits inside the bottle holder, printed perfectly.
- There were no issues with adhesion or print quality.
This gave me confidence that everything was set up correctly.
Problem While Printing the Base
When I started printing the base part, I ran into a serious issue:
- The filament started getting stuck
- The print would fail repeatedly
- The extrusion was inconsistent
I tried multiple times, but the same issue kept happening.
Troubleshooting Attempts
To fix the issue, I tried several adjustments:
- Changed nozzle temperature
- Adjusted bed temperature
- Checked printer settings
- Re-sliced the model
- Cleaned the nozzle
Despite all these efforts, the problem still continued.
Identifying the Real Problem
After multiple failed attempts, I suspected the filament itself.
I switched to a different filament roll — and surprisingly:
✅ The print worked perfectly!
This made it clear that:
The original filament had absorbed moisture, causing printing issues.
Reprinting With New Filament
Using the second filament:
- All parts printed smoothly
- No clogging or extrusion problems
- Print quality was consistent
This confirmed that the issue was completely related to the first filament.
Assembly
After printing all the parts:
- I carefully assembled them together
- The inner plate fit perfectly inside the holder
- All components aligned well
Safety Instructions
While working with a 3D printer, safety is very important. Here are some precautions I followed:
🔥 Be careful while cleaning the nozzle
The nozzle operates at very high temperatures (200°C+). So always do with safety.
🔄 Change filament properly
Always heat the nozzle before removing filament. Pull it out slowly and insert the new filament correctly to avoid clogging.
🧤 Avoid direct contact with hot parts
The print bed and nozzle both get very hot during printing.
âš¡ Turn off the printer when doing maintenance
Always switch off the printer when adjusting parts or cleaning.
🧹 Keep your workspace clean
Loose filament pieces or tools near moving parts can cause accidents.
Final Result
The bottle holder was successfully completed!

📚 Lessons Learned
This project taught me some important things:
- Moisture in the filament can cause serious print issues
- Always test with another filament if problems persist
- Proper storage of filament is very important
- Troubleshooting step-by-step helps identify the real issue
