Build a Simple Line-Following Robot—No Microcontroller Needed
A line following robot is a robot that can move by itself and follow a black line on the ground. Usually, these robots use microcontrollers like Arduino and need programming.
In this project,I build a line following robot without using any microcontroller or coding.
The robot works only with basic electronic components.
This project is very useful for beginners who want to learn electronics and robotics in a simple way.
Supplies
KA 7805 - 1
L293D- 1
BO MOTORS - 2(60 RPM)
LM358 IC -2
IR TRANSMITTER RECEIVER PAIR - 2
Red LED - 2
10K OHM Variable Resistor - 2
100 Ohm -2
220 Ohm - 2
10k Ohm - 2
DC Power Jack Socket -1
Wire to Board connectors (3 pins) - 4
Wire to Board connectors (2 pins) - 3
9v Rechargeable battery pack
Assemble the 2 IR Module Circuit
Solder the following components on the PCB. Refer the following circuit diagram for that.
LM358 IC -2
IR TRANSMITTER RECEIVER PAIR - 2
Red LED - 2
10K OHM Variable Resistor - 2
100 Ohm -2
220 Ohm - 2
10k Ohm - 2
DC Power Jack Socket -1
Wire to Board connectors (3 pins) - 2
Assemble the Motor Driven Circuit
Solder the following components one the PCB. Refer the following diagram for that.
KA 7805 - 1
L293D- 1
DC Power Jack Socket -1
Wire to Board connectors (3 pins) - 2
Wire to Board connectors (2 pins) - 3
Connect IR Module to the Motor Driven PCB
Refer the above circuit diagram to connect each PCB's
Assemble the Chassis and Place the PCB's on It
You can make suitable type of chassis. I selected above one and assembled it. After assemble it placed 2 IR modules in front of the chassis and face it downward. And place the motor driven pcb on the chassis. Finally adjust the IR sensors sensitivity and keep it on the black line.
Cover the Chassis
For the final finishing you can cover it.
