BANNOCK BREAD DRY MIX
Bannock bread is easy to make and cook around a campfire.
This mixture, unlike others, is a dry mix that can be stored until needed. The only requirement is a bit of water when you're ready to use it.
Ingredients
- 3x cups of plain flour
- 2x cups of powdered milk
- 1x cup of raisins
- 2x tablespoons of sugar
- 1x tablespoon of baking powder
- Lukewarm water
Equipment
- Baking tin, medium baked bean tin, or frying pan
- Large mixing bowl
- Tinfoil
- Greaseproof paper
Cooking
This can be done in multiple ways:
- Oven – Bread tin
- Campfire – Hobo oven
- Campfire – Twister stick
- Campfire – Frying pan
Oven

Preset your oven to 150c (This is a fan oven).
Mixing Step 1 of 2

Get your mixing bowl and put ingredients 1 to 5 in together and mix all ingredients together to create the dry mix.
CAMPING: If you are planning to take away bag up and move to
STEP 3 when at base camp.
Mixing Step 2 of 2

Slowly add the warm water till you get a good dough bread consistency, Line your tin with the Gease Proof Paper then Roll your dough into a ball and then put into your tin and leave in a warm area to settle for 20-30 minutes (if using yeast instead of baking powder).
Cooking

Oven: Place your bread tin in the oven and bake until golden brown, approximately 55 to 70 minutes (with a fan oven). Remember, when cooking on embers, the heat can range from 615 to 1200 degrees Celsius.
Fire - Hobo Oven: Place the tin can into the hobo oven on top of three stones and cover the larger tin with tinfoil.
Fire - Twister Sticks: Use non-poisonous sticks, twist some dough around them, and hold them close to the fire. Cook until golden brown.
Fire - Frying Pan: Place the tin next to the fire and rotate it slowly.
