CROCHET YOUR OWN PUMPKIN FOR AUTUMN FALL

Hi guys . I welcome you to my another Instructable . Today we are gonna see the procedure for making a crochet pumpkin. Please view the whole pattern as I have posted the procedure of making two types of pumpkin.

1. a normal stuffed pumpkin ( for decoration)

2. a pumpkin drawstring bag ( for gifts and treats)

BOTH THE PATTERNS ARE EASY TO FOLLOW .

LETS GET STARTED

BEFORE PROCEEDING YOU MUST KNOW THE BASICS OF CROCHET

ABBREVATIONS

sc - single crochet

sc2tog - sc two stiches together

sl st - slip stitch

rep - repeat (times)

dc - double crochet

tdc - treble crochet

hdc - half double crochet

PATTERN FOR MAKING THE PUMPKIN ( same for both decoration and for drawstring bag )

Rnd 1: magic circle of 6 sc

Rnd 2: 2 sc in each st around (12 sc)

Rnd 3: (2 sc in next st, sc in next st) 6 times. (18 sc)

Rnd 4: (2 sc in next st, sc in next 2 sts) 6 times. (24 sts)

Rnd 5: (2 sc in next st, sc in next 3 sts) 6 times. (30 sts)

Rnd 6: (2 sc in next st, sc in next 4 sts) 6 times. (36 sts)

Rnd 7: (2 sc in next st, sc in next 5 sts) 6 times. (42 sts)

Rnd 8: (2 sc in next st, sc in next 6 sts) 6 times. (48 sts)

Rnd 9 to Rnd 11:(sc in each st)

Rnd 12:(sc2tog , sc in next 6 sts) 6 times. (42 sts)

Rnd 13:(sc2tog , sc in next 5 sts) 6 times. (36 sts)

Rnd 14:(sc2tog , sc in next 4 sts) 6 times. (30 sts)

Rnd 15: HERE COMES THE TRANSITION. IF YOU WANT TO MAKE A DRAWSTRING BAG, END IT WITH A

SLIP STICH. IF YOU ARE MAKING IT FOR THE DECOR, FASTEN OFF AND WEAVE IN ENDS.

TIP : INSTEAD OF STUFFING, YOU COULD FILL THE PUMPKIN WITH TREATS IN THE DRAWSTRING BAG . IF YOU ARE FOLLOWING THIS METHOD, MAKE SURE THAT YOU ALSO FILL IT WITH SOME STUFFING TO MAKE IT LOOK STIFF.

PATTERN

1. STEM

Rnd 1: magic circle of 6 sc

Rnd 2 to 4: (sc in each st)

FASTEN OFF AND WEAVE IN ENDS.

2. LEAF

ROW 1 : ch 10

ROW 2 : start with the second chain from the hook (sc,hdc,hdc,dc,dc,tdc,dc,dc,hdc) ; ch 1; in the next side (sc,hdc,hdc,dc,dc,tdc,dc,dc,hdc)

3. TENDRILL AND LEAF( FOR DRAWSTRING BAG)

FOR MAKING THE LEAF, FOLLOW THE SAME PATTERN

from the chain of the leaf , continue to make 30 chains and make a lock.

Insert the chain into the tapestry needle and sew it around the round of the pumpkin . Now pull both the ends together . It would function as a drawstring bag.

TIP : IF YOU HAVE FILLED THE PUMPKIN WITH TREATS , THERE IS NO NEED TO MAKE THE STEM. IF YOU ARE FOLLOWING THIS METHOD , THE TENDRILL IS COMPULSARY.

BODY OF THE PUMPKIN

Wrap the yarn around pumpkin to starting point to divide pumpkin in half. Pull tight and knot at center. Now divide in half again to form 4 equal sections, wrapping the yarn up . Divide the pumpkin 2 more times to have a total of 8 sections. Make a knot at center and finish off AND YOU ARE DONE.
