I wear women’s pants, therefore, rarely do I have pockets. So, to combat my dry lips and make my lanyard into a pseudo-purse, I made this chapstick holder for this winter. This fits VERY snug on my chapstick (Burt’s bees), so use that as a reference to see if you should change any measurements.
Materials:
- Chapstick
- Fabric strips
- Thread
- Sewing machine
- Rotary cutter set
- Pins
- Small D-ring (0.5 inches here) or any key ring
- Optional: stabilizer fabric

Cut your fabric
- Loop for the D-ring: 2 inches x 2 inches
- 2 bases (inside and outside): 6.25 inches x 2 inches
- Optional stabilizer: 1.5 inches x 5.5 inches

Iron 2inx2in square in half, then fold the outside edges in, and iron flat. Sew along edges with a ⅛ inch seam allowance. This will produce a thin strip of fabric.

Take the 2 base pieces and line them up right sides touching. Insert D-ring into step 2’s fabric strip, fold in half, place inside the base pieces in the middle of the short side, and pin.

Cut excess fabric, turn inside out, and iron flat.
Optional: insert stabilizer fabric in the pocket here.
