I modeled a modern structure for social gatherings, recreation, and a shelter for misplaced people in case of disaster. This building can be located in parks in our communities and can have many uses, such as acting as a gathering hall, an event space, or simply a place to sit as you stroll through the park. This building is a sleek curved roof structure with a very modern feel to it. The heart statue beside it adds a lot and serves as a reminder of the purpose of this building. Apart from recreation, this area can be very useful in the case of disaster in the community. Just think house fires for example, families can go to this building to have a roof over their heads and get back on their feet. Inside there can be water filling stations, beds and benches, and lockers to store personal items. Outside a playground/park area can keep children entertained while in the view of their guardians thanks to a giant glass window the full length of the building.

Main Structure

I knew I wanted to design a modern and functional space that would fit into a park without taking away from its surroundings. Using basic smooth shapes such as the "round roof" for a curved modern and calm feel turned out quite good. A simple long rectangular shape is perfect for a building like this and making the main structure out of a "box" worked perfect. Aligning and grouping the two shapes gives us the main part of the structure.

Door

For the entrance to the community space another box shape with the round roof keeps a consistent design and makes the building look sleek and modern with all the rounded shapes.

Interior

To achieve the interior look with the giant window looking out at the park, simply group a slightly smaller "box hole" with the main body we made in step one to get the room. Then just put another thin rectangle in this new hole and select a very light blue and make it transparent.

Surroundings

To really set the scene and show where this building looks best, I added a few trees, mountains and a footpath. The heart statue I feel adds a lot to the design and serves as a symbol and reminder of the building's purpose, to show love and care to others in our community who may be impacted by disasters such as fires.
