The ingredients involved in this sandwich are breakfast inspired. Eggs, bacon, and hash browns are the three most common foods I eat for breakfast. You may have always eaten them separate but today you will experience just how nicely the flavors compliment each other.

Supplies

2 Frozen Hash Brown Patties

1 Egg

2 Pieces of Bacon

1 Piece of Cheese(optional)

Cooking the Bacon

Get out a pan to put on the stove, preferably a larger one so more can cook at the same time later on. Turn the heat on low and watch to make sure the bacon doesn't burn. While the bacon cooks, it will produce grease which has the same functions as oil. Save the grease because we will use it in the next step.

If you have never cooked bacon before be aware that it may pop and hot grease could land on your clothes or skin if you aren't careful.

Take Off Excess Grease

Take two paper towels and layer them onto your plate to put the bacon on. This should soak up any unnecessary grease that is left on the bacon.

Cooking the Hash Browns

The next step to making this sandwich is to cook the hash brown patties. The bacon grease in the pan should already be warm so go ahead and put the hash browns on the pan. The amount of time it takes will depend on the heat of your stove. Keep checking to see if the edges look browned and crispy, that is the indicator on when to flip sides. Cook them until they are nice and crispy on both sides.

Removing Extra Grease Again

Put the hash browns on paper towels like you did for the bacon in step 2. This is crucial to the crispiness of the hash browns. If they are left sitting with extra grease on them, they will become soggy and harder to eat.

Cooking the Egg

For this part you want to make sure your oil is not too hot so turn off the heat of the stovetop and move the pan over a separate burner. After about two minutes, move the pan back to the first burner and turn the heat on again.

Crack the egg into the middle of the pan and be sure to pop the yolk. The cooking time for the egg simply depends on how you like your eggs cooked. When the egg is first cooking try to form it into the shape of your hash browns. This will make your sandwich easier to eat.

If you want cheese, I recommend you add it when the egg is almost fully cooked. It should be shortly before you remove the egg from the pan. Steam coming off the egg will melt the cheese.

Putting It All Together

Now that everything is cooked, remove the paper towels from the plate to leave just the food. Stack the foods with one hash brown on the bottom, your egg, layer the bacon, and put the second hash brown on top.

I hope you enjoy making this sandwich and you think it's as delicious as I do!
