Custom Wearable Water Bottle


This is my 3D-printed portable water bottle. It straps onto your arm and has a straw coming out of it. Since it is printed, it can be easily modified to fit into your arm and made bigger. I made this because I am a runner. I want to go on long runs, but I need to hydrate with summer coming. This will easily provide me with electrolytes on my run. This could also be used when you don't have space for a water bottle. For example. hikers. They walk a lot and carry a lot of things. They can't waste space on a big jug of water.
Supplies


You will need.
- A 3D printer
- CAD software (I used Solidworks)
- 2 Velcro straps
- Vinyl tube (I used a 1/4 OD and .17 ID)
- Scissors
- Measuring tool
- Adhesive
Design It


First, you need to take the measurements of your bottle. This should be roughly the size of your arm, but you can adjust it as needed. Designing it on SolidWorks should be straightforward. Make sure to add a 6-inch radius arc on the width, so that it adequately goes around your arm. Next, add a shell of 0.15 inches, and then design the hole for where you will fill the bottle up. I made it about an inch in diameter, but make sure to make the cap 0.05 inches bigger for better clearance. The bottle hole should have a thread, and it should go up one inch. I made the thread 2.5 revolutions. Then you will design the velcro strap handles. Make sure to add adequate clearance to this as well. I had to reprint my entire bottle because of this. My final version has 0.25 inches. Finally, split it and add notches so that you can print it in 2 pieces and later glue it together. This is needed so that supports aren't printed inside the bottle.
Print It and Glue It



First, make sure to get all the supports off Since it is printed in 2 parts, you have to glue it. I used basic adhesive to stick it together. Make sure to use a small amount so that it can go in the holes. After this make sure to wash it well after all the adhesive is dry to get rid of any residue. Now you just need the straw and velcro straps.
Final Touches

Finally cut the tube to your desired length with scissors. It should fit snuggly into the hole. Add the velcro straps into their designated spots. Now you are done! It may be hard to get used to putting it on, but it gets better over time.
