Customized-scented Laundry Detergent
Hello Makers! Today I will be teaching you how to make a customized-scented laundry detergent. Haven’t you thought about wanting your clothes to smell however you want them to smell, such as mint or lavender? Today you will be learning how to do this in 7 easy steps!
This process will not be too challenging; this product is nice and easy to make. It will require various materials, including essential oils of your choice to make it smell like you want it to. Lastly, the final product will have a powdery consistency. So, let's get started!
Supplies
The materials you will need for this product will be:
- 1 Box grater
- 1 Measuring cup
- 1 Bowl
- ½ cup of Borax
- ½ cup of Baking soda (sodium carbonate) - (A well-rated brand for this product is “Arm and Hammer,” and can be bought in your local supermarket.)
- ½ of Pure bar soap (recommended brand “ZOTE”)/castile soap or soap flakes
- 1 Container with a secure lid
- 4-5 drops of Essential oil of your choice
If Soap Flakes Are Unavailable, Grate Half a Soap Bar With the Box Grater.
If you don’t have soap flakes available, then you may get a laundry soap bar, such as “ZOTE,” and use half of it to grate with a box grater.
Add the Soap Into Bowl
If you have soap flakes available, add 1 cup of them to the bowl. If you don’t, then add the grated soap bar into the bowl.
Add ½ Cup of Borax Into Bowl Along With the Soap
With a measuring cup, measure 1/2 cup of borax into the bowl.
Add ½ Cup of Baking Soda (sodium Carbonate) Into the Bowl
Using the measuring cup, add 1/2 cup of baking soda into the bowl.
Add 5-6 Drops of Essential Oil of Your Choice Into the Mixture
Choose the essential oil that you would like your clothes to smell like, and add 5-6 drops of it into the bowl along with the previous mixture.
Mix Until All Ingredients Are Mixed Together (when Different Substances Are Combined)
With a spoon, mix all of the ingredients you have added together. You will know your product is ready when all of the ingredients can be seen that they are together. Also, when your mixture has a powdery consistency.
(final Step) Add Final Product Into Well-sealed Container of Choice
The last step for this product is to add your final product into your container of choice. Make sure that your container is well-sealed and that the product won’t have the risk of spilling out. (I chose to place it in a plastic container so that it could close well). To effectively clean your clothes, you will need to use only 2 tablespoons per load at most.
And that’s it! Enjoy your product and wash your clothes with it so that they can have whichever scent you want!
