DIY Aero Waterbottle

I am doing an endurance ride and wanted a proper aero cockpit. I wanted to be able to drink without leaving my aero position. I didn’t want to spend any money tho. This is my solution.

Attach water bottle holder between aero bars with zip ties in three spots.

drill a hole in a smart water bottle and insert a 14.5” silicone straw.

quad lock phone mount with zip ties on top for extra credit.

unsure if I need to cut a vent hole but that may be necessary. If so I will drill a small hole near the highest point of the bottle when it’s in the bars.

edit: this setup leaked water excessively. Also the shape of the water bottle cage didn’t work well. The bottle would contort itself out of the cage.

Took version 2.0 out for a century.

I switched the bottle cage for this one. It holds the bottle better.

Tried hot glue but the straw still leaked. Not as much and was mostly good for the ride. Vent hole would leak water when I hit a bump.

The smart water bottle was fun but 3.0 needs a rigid bottle. Stay tuned.
