Hello All,

Here is a project that I designed, fabricated, and built recently. This was really my first time working with angle iron but the finished industrial result turned out pretty good and though it had a few challenges it was not overwhelming. I would say this took me about 4 days to complete.

Supplies

(1x) 24 by 48 by 3/4 inch wooden board (edge glued pine)

So initially I cut the frame and drilled the holes per the pictures. For this you will need 4 legs (18 inch pieces), and 8 each of the the other two styles of pieces

After cutting and drilling the holes. I installed the M6 Rivet Nuts in the Cross Members (not the legs). The legs being the 18 inch long pieces.

Once that was finished I assembled the frame with the M6 bolts, and used the angle grinder to not off all the scale and to polish the steel up a bit.

Next I painted the frame black

Bottom Shelf

After the frame was assembly I took measurements to fit in the bottom shelf. Mine ended up being 23.75" by 35.75" for a snug fit. I used dimensional wood from the local big box store for these of use and trimmed as needed. After it was cut, I router chamfer for a nice clean top edge, and sanded the whole shelf to 220 before applying stain and poly. Then this was attached with wood screws from the bottom of the angle iron frame.

Top Storage and Table Top

Next I worked on the top storage and table top. Again I used dimensional wood from a big box store being (1) 48 x 24 x 5/4 board, (1) 2' x 4' x 3/4 plywood board, and some 1 x 8 boards. Again I measured from the frame to determine the size of box I needed. I cut the 1 x 8 boards down to size, and used pocket holes and wood glue to assembly the box sides. Then I measure the inside of this frame and cut the 3/4 plywood down to size and again used pocket holes and wood glue to attach.

I didn't need to cut the table top to size since it was already 48 x 24 and was the size I wanted.

From there I chamfered the table top just like the shelf. I then proceeded to sand up to 220, stain, and poly the table top and box.

The box was attached to the angle iron frame with wood screws and the table top was attached with the coffee table hinge to the box.

Again here are some photos of the finished product. I am fairly happy with it. Thank you for looking through this instructable, it was my first time posting so I hope it was helpful enough for whatever project you decide to tackle.
