DIY Wooden Bedside Lamp | Laser Cut, Ambient Lighting, Custom Wood Art, Plywood Crafts

In this instructable, I want to share with you a wooden bedside light. You guys can create this stunning multi-layered bedside lamp using laser-cut plywood and candle lighting. This DIY project combines craftsmanship and modern aesthetics to produce a warm, ambient light perfect for any bedroom.

With a laser cutter, some paint, and basic assembly, you can craft a unique bedside lamp that adds style and functionality to your space.

Supplies

Wooden House Table Lamp🄰Laser Cut with NEJE Max4

MATERIALS:

  1. 3mm thickness plywood * 2 (70*45cm)
  2. Wood Glue
  3. Acrylic Paint or Wood Stain
  4. Candle Lights (battery-powered or USB-powered, warm white recommended)
  5. Sandpaper (optional, for smoothing edges)

EQUIPMENT:

  1. 20W NEJE Laser Cutter
  2. Software: Light-burn

Upload the File

As you can see, this work requires a lot of parts. If you want to cut it all at once, you need a larger machine (700*460mm). I have set the thickness to 3mm, but if you want to change the size and make it smaller or larger, you can modify it yourself.

Laser Cutting

Place the 3mm thick plywood into the laser cutter and upload the design file to Lightburn. Adjust the file to fit the work area. Since this project has many parts, you can split the cutting file into multiple passes to manage the materials efficiently. But if you have a larger machine like me, you can do it all in one pass.

Laser Settings:

  1. Speed: 450mm/min
  2. Power: 90%
  3. Air Assist: On

Painting and Finishing

After cutting, lightly sand the edges of the plywood layers if needed for a smooth finish. Paint the layers before assembly to ensure even coverage. Use the paint or stain each layer using acrylic paint or wood stain. My suggestion is to make the windows black and the roof and fence brown.

Assembling the Lamp

After using wood glue to stick the windows in place, you can assemble them first, then the roof, and finally the fence.

Enjoy Your Work

Finally you can place your candle lamp on the cut disc, cover it with the assembled house, and you are done! The multi-layered design will cast intricate light patterns, creating a cozy atmosphere. Adjust the LED brightness (if supported)

Your DIY wooden bedside lamp is now complete! Enjoy the warm glow and unique design in your bedroom.
