Decorative Magazine Craft
This is a very stylish and beautiful decorative stand made from a magazine! Nice!
Materials Needed.
Main materials:
- Two old magazines (a standard book might also work)
- A pair of scissors
- Glue stick (or other glue)
Additional materials:
- Staple device
- Paperboard (carton)
Setup.
Take your magazine and open it. Easy start!
Bending the Pages.
Start by bending the first page of your magazine inwards. Then continue by bending the second page the opposite direction of the first - outwards. Now continue bending all the pages except the front cover and back page. When you have finished folding, your magazine should look like the last picture.
Cut of Excess Page.
Now cut the front cover and back page so that they are shortened to be in line with the bended pages. But don't cut them off completely, just cut them shorter so they don't stick out like that.
Repeat the Previous Steps With Your Other Magazine.
Use your second magazine, and bend and cut it just like the first one.
Bring the Two Magazines Together.
Bend magazine 1 about 90 degrees left, then bend magazine 2 about 90 degrees right. This should expose the back page of magazine one and the front cover of magazine 2.
Now Glue Them.
Use the glue to stick the front cover and back page of the two magazines together. Stand it up and glue the other front cover and back page together. Now you have a beautiful paper cylinder.
Strengthen the Glued Pages.
Use the staple device here. This adds strength, if your glue is not that strong.
Now You Can Make a Paperboard Top for Your Magazine Cylinder.
Trace the size of your cylinder on a piece of paperboard and cut it out. Then place it on your cylinder. This is an option which is not necessary. If you want to put a vase on the cylinder it will be necessary, but if you don't intend to do that the cylinder looks better with an open top. You could also put something else on top of the cylinder like a round piece of glass or maybe wood.
Be Creative and Use Your Magazine Cylinder As a Decorative Stand.
One Last Thing...
When moving the magazine stand, it might be best to place it on a tray and then move it.
