Easy 10-Step Paper Airplane

IMG_5425.jpg

I created a simple paper airplane that is easy to make and flies pretty great as well. I made this because it is something fun that can also be made by anyone with access to paper.

Supplies

IMG_5415.jpeg
  1. 1 Standard Flat 8.5" x 11" Sheet of Paper
  2. A Flat Surface

Start With a Flat Sheet of Paper

Place the paper vertically on a flat surface (Should be in a "Portrait" Orientation)

Fold the Paper in Half Lengthwise

Some people know this as hot dog style

Make sure the corners are aligned or as close as you can get them

This fold/crease will act as a reference point for the rest of the steps

Fold the Two Top Corners to the Center Crease

Take either the top right or left corners and fold them in, so the edge lines up with the center reference crease.

Repeat with the other corner

The Top should now come to a point

Fold the Top Edges to the Center Again

Take the left slanted edge and fold it inward once more so that the edge meets the center crease.

Do the same with the right side.

This should create a sharper nose.

Fold the Plane in Half Along the Center Crease

Think of this step like closing a book; the center crease is the spine. So, fold that crease you made on step two again.

Create the First Wing

From one side of the plane, fold it over the outside, leaving about an inch between the wing tip and the bottom edge of the plane.

Create the Second Wing

Flip the plane over and repeat step 6

Try to align this second wing with your first wing.

Adjust the Wing Tips

Fold up the tips of the wings about half an inch

This helps the plane stabilize in flight

Check for Symmetry

This is one of the final steps

Take the plane and double-check that both wings line up.

Both wings should be even and flat

Launch Your Airplane

Hold the plane a few inches from the front of the nose, then give it a throw.

It should be a smooth, level-motion flight.

If the plane dives or veers, make some adjustments till you get a nice smooth flight.
