I had an older instructables, but my computer got hacked. Any questions drop a line ?

Checking the Voltages

You will need a volt meter , check the battery and the battery charger

Follow the Voltage

Go from the battery to the power switch (some cars don’t have on/off switches the foot pedal will be the power switch) then go to the pedal then to the forward/reverse switch. Then the motors will be your last section.Along the way if there is a fuse or diode, switch the meter to sound mode and test each for open fuses or diode. Touch the metal on each side of the part and listen for a beep, if no sound it will be bad. Motors rarely go out the majority of the time it is a switch or fuse problem or bad connection.Always use caution if you’re not familiar with electronics so you don’t cause a fuse or diode to go bad. As you are tracing the wires to each section check the connections for any corrosion or loose connection.

Replacing the Battery

If you find you need to replace the battery you can replace with an original or with a universal battery. If you can remove the original wiring from the main battery ( you will need to unhook or desolder the terminals)and put it on the universal battery. If you can’t get the original wiring off you can cut the wiring off at the terminals and use female connectors to connect to the new battery. If you have a glue gun it’s a safe bet to glue the terminals. If the charger goes bad you can replace it with one from the factory or you can get a universal one that would hook directly to the battery.

Drill Baby Drill

The biggest tip would be to drill holes anywhere water can collect , most of these toys are plastic and mostly cheap wiring from China. If you buy a ride or get one from someone who’s kids have outgrown them, if they have radios, or sirens and all the bells and whistles. The added items will drain battery run times.

Re Painting and Decals

With patience and spray paint that works on plastic you can give the older cars a fresh look. These were some brought in and given new life. You also can buy new decals online.

Had someone come by with a curb find zero turn lawnmower toy ride on. He changed the fuses checked the wire connections which were all good. It has two motors on each side of the ride controlled by the two levers. We were unable to determine why power wasn’t getting to the motors ,which were good.. I ran one wire from each each motor to the battery hot side (red) then from the levers one wire from the ground (black) from motor to the switch and back to the ground battery. When wiring directly you will use the reverse. But using one lever at a time the ride on can turn left or right.

Whenever you have a 24v or 12 v ride on that had a control box if you hear a clicking noise and you aren’t getting power. You will need to change the control box, you will need to specify if your throttle uses 4 or 6 pins.
