Electronic Chess Clock.
my son is a school chess player and he always wanted to compete with a chess clock. the clocks in market were quiet expensive and i decided to take the matters to my own hand and build a one. the requirement was to have a chess clock with following features.
*. should have two separate well lit clocks either ssd or lcd. since ssd modules were widely available and quite robust, i went with tm 1637 ssd module.
*. should have two large buttons for the players to change their terms.
*. function buttons for game change, reset , and power.
Supplies
arduino nano , mini boost converter , good quality 18650 batteries , three gang plastic surface box , two big bell switches, one blank plate .
Testing...
first i tested the program using bread board and worked fine except for one dimming dipslay. later i found that the issue was with the cables i used. so never trust those jumper wires. program is attached and i added five custom game settings. you can change them if you want by just typing the time slots you need.

Assembling the Device...
since i didn't had a time to 3D print any casing or any other. i decided to proceed with three gand surface electrical box. then i cut two holes for the tm1637 displays.
Power Supply .
since the device should be capable of handling long hours without interruption , i decided to powerup the device with two 18650 batteries which approximately had a capacity of 2800 mAh each and decided to use a cheap li-ion charger board to charge the batteries and small boost converter to provide required 5V to Arduino from 3.7V of batteries. dispalys were fixed to the openings made and i decided to use a good old mechanical switch for the on off function.
Finally...
it works perfectly. the only issue is that the push buttons are bit tall and accidently get activated during transfer , which was a minor set back in my case. so enjoy building ...
