Extract Broken FCS G-5 Fin Studs From Inside the Fin Box of a Surfboard

Modern FCS surfboard fins are designed to break away during large forces to prevent the fin box from ripping out of the board and ruining your surfboard here is a Quick, Fool proof & Easy way to remove the fin studs of a broken FCS Fin from inside the Fin Box .

Loosen the Screws

Loosen the 2 screws holding the fins down with the tool provided by the manufacturer. Check if you can get a firm hold on the fin and try to pull it out . U will most probably not be able to pull it out if yes you are very lucky otherwise proceed to the next step

Drill

Drill a small hole in the center of the broken plug. you just need to go in 5mm . One u reach the desired depth try pulling out with the drill not rotating, the plug might come out else proceed to next step

FIx a Screw

Screw in a Appropriately sized screw into the hole u just drill. Tighten the screw till you feel its quite tight and need to apply quite a bit a force to turn .

Pull on the Screw

Pull on the screw and the  the fin stud should just come out of the board. YOu might need a pair of pliers. Make sure u have done step 1 properly

Repeat \
