Fishing Rod Stand
I finally found a simple and cheap solution to hold my fishing rod while fishing especially on rocky beach.
This is a simple and sturdy fishing rod stand that you can use while shore-fishing. It keeps your rod angled up and stable, leaving your hands free.
Supplies
Materials
- 30 cm PVC pipe (length may vary depending on rod thickness)
- 1 PVC adapter/coupling that fits over the pipe (to attach the hinges)
- 2 flexible cabinet hinges (or folding metal brackets)
- 1 plywood base (approx. 30 × 10 cm)
- 1 rear support bracket (L-shaped or U-shaped metal bracket)
- Screws + small bolts/nuts
- Drill
Prepare the Base
Cut a piece of plywood to approximately 30 × 10 cm.
This will be the stand’s base.
Lightly sand the edges to smooth them.
Step 2: Mount the Rear Bracket
Attach a metal bracket near one end of the plywood.
This bracket will hold the rear end of the PVC pipe and keep it from shifting.
Secure it with screws.
Attach the PVC Tube
Place the PVC tube on the base so that the front end is raised and the rear end rests inside the bracket.
Mark the position for the hinges.
Slide the larger PVC adapter over the tube and position it roughly in the middle.
This provides a flat surface to attach the hinges.
Step 4: Install the Foldable Hinges (Legs)
Attach two flexible cabinet hinges (or folding legs) to the PVC adapter and to the plywood base.
These act as the stand’s legs and will support the tube at an angle.
Make sure both legs are equal length so the pipe sits evenly.
Test the Angle
Place your fishing rod into the pipe and adjust the hinge angle until you have a comfortable upward angle.
Tighten all screws and bolts.
Done!
Now your fishing rod stand is ready.
Place it on the shore, point it toward the water, and let the rod rest securely while you fish hands-free.
Tips
- If fishing on slippery or sandy ground, add rubber pads or metal spikes to the base for extra grip.
- add weight (small rock) on the base to hold the stand and keeping sturdy
- You can paint or coat the wood to make it weather-resistant.
