Create the Design

I used Cricut Design Space to make a flower design using a simple circle shape.

I made the circles about 2 mm and spaced them evenly across the flower. You can draw the flower like that or first place a template of the shape you would like to create and add the circles on top of that.

Next I added corners to be cut out of my card. Those can be used to add a paper backing to hide the yarn at the end of the project. The corners are free images in design space that are used for making insert cards.

To make your life easier I've shared my design on design space, so you can create this flower card without having to draw anything.

Cutting Your Card

IMG_1440.JPG

Open my design or create your own.

Click make and choose insert cards as your material.

I used a pre-cut card that is just the right size (R20 or 4.25 in x 5.5 in or 10.8 cm x 14 cm)

This card can be cut on any Cricut machine.

Of course you can use a simple sheet of paper and use your machine to cut it to size. This can definitely be done with the larger cutting machines. You'll just need to add a rectangle the size of your card in Design Space.

Place your pre-cut card on a card mat and let your machine cut the design.

Weaving Your Design

When your card is cut, you should have lots of holes in the shape of a flower.

Pick your colours yarn. I used a needle to go up and down through every hole twice. Start from the inside of the card.

This should create a nice line. Finish your line off by tying the end of your yarn on the back side of the card.

For the middle of the flower (orange), I also went from the middle circle to each of the circles of the middle part, creating a filled middle part.

I used pink for the outside of the flower. Orange for the inside and green for the stem and leaves, but you can use any color you have lying around.

Finish of Your Card

When your done weaving your yarn, you can add a sheet of paper on the inside that fits through the corners of your card. That way you can hide all off the yarn on the inside.

Add some text to the inside of your card and you'll have a unique hand made greeting card!
