Food Rescue Using Flashfood and TooGoodToGo Apps

For this contest, I decided to highlight two food rescue apps. They are Flashfood and TooGoodToGo. Users of these two apps should expect to save while reducing the amount of grocery and restaurant food waste that ends up in the landfill.
Supplies
TooGoodToGo: https://www.toogoodtogo.com/en-us
FlashFood: https://flashfood.com/
Android or Apple phone
Check to See If There Are Stores or Restaurants That Are Partners
Before you download, the app, you can check to see if there are partners in the area. For Flashfood, check this link: https://flashfood.com/en/locations. For TooGoodToGo, check out this link: https://www.toogoodtogo.com/en-us/about-us/in-my-area.
Download the Apps
The first step is to download the apps. If you found Flashfood partners in your area, you can use this link: to get the app: https://flashfood.com/?showgettheapp=true. Use referral code SOPH2XPEP to get $5 credit when you spend $7 or more on your first order.
For TooGoodToGo, use this link:https://www.toogoodtogo.com/en-us.
Create an Account
Create an account after download. Agree to the terms and add your personal details. This includes payment information within the app. Grant location permission if requested by the app to find food partners in your area.

Apply filters to find the food rescue opportunities you want. The picture shows you the filter option in TooGoodToGo. In Flashfood, you can click on the magnifying glass that says explore near the bottom of the page, as seen in the second screenshot. If you allow the app to access your location, you'll see partners listed and a map of where they are located.
To the Rescue - Find What Is Available

The picture on the left shows some of the TooGoodToGo partners available in my area within the app. Some of the listings show what has been popular today and what is still available for pickup. If you choose to buy, you'll have to pick it up within a specific time range.
The picture on the right shows what partner offerings look like in Flashfood. Depending on your location, there are several stores that may be listed. Make sure to pay attention to the pickup deadline for the day.
Picking Up Your Rescued Food
Once you have made a purchase, you will receive a message in the TooGoodToGo app towards the bottom reminding you when your pickup time starts. Go in and show the app at the designated pick-up area. You will need to slide a button towards the button of the app that indicates you are picking up your purchase. You will receive an email after the pickup with a receipt.
If you are using Flashfood, you can go to your profile to view receipts. Go to the designated pick-up area and show the employee your app. They will often accompany you to the Flashfood refrigerator and select the items for you. They will confirm pickup of your order in their Flashfood device.
Understanding Your Food Rescue Impact

TooGoodToGo users will be able to understand the impact of their food rescue by clicking on their profile. Not only can you see how much money you have saved but you can also see your environmental impact.
The third screenshot shows your lifetime savings for using the Flashfood app.
Cook Your Dish

Here is an example of dish that includes some of the grass-fed flank steak purchased in the TooGoodToGo app. Great deals can be found in both the TooGoodToGo and Flashfood apps. Here is hoping you also become a food rescuer and can benefit the environment by ensuring that good food doesn't meet the landfill.
