Fun Activity for Kids: Clean Toys

IMG_5105.JPG

My son is going through a sensitive period about cleaning, he just LOVES to do the dishes, broom the floor, clean the table, etc. As he is just two and a half years old I really want to give him Practical Life skills. It's been some hot days here so I thought it would be fun to clean the toys outside and he had a blast!

What You'll Need

  • All the toys you're going to clean
  • Two containers (I used a bathtub and a bowl)
  • Water for the containers
  • Dish soap
  • Baby bottle brush (or any other kind of brush)
  • Towel
  • Baby wipes

Sorting

Put all the toys together and sort them. On one side the ones that can be washed with a lot of water and in the other side the ones that have stickers that can come off or the ones made of wood (that would damage if we soak them in water)

Time to Go Outside

Fill up your containers with water

Soap

Put some dish soap in one of the containers and mix it well. My son got very excited when he started to see the bubbles in the water. The other container will stay with clean water.

Soapy Water

Put all the toys that can go to the water in the soapy water and move them a little bit, or tell your kid to shake them inside the water.

Use the brush to reach the places where the dirt accumulates.

Almost Ready

Place the toys that have been already brushed in the clean water and shake them to take the soap off.

Towel

Place them in the towel to let them dry. As we did this outside we just put all the washed toys in the towel and came back for them an hour later.

Repeat this steps with all the plastic toys.

Delicates

For the delicate toys just use baby wipes to clean them.

Teach your children to take care of their things since they are little. This will make them be more grateful with what they have and careful with their belongings.

Hope your kids have as much fun as mine did!
