Giant Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe

What everyone really needs is the ability to make a giant chocolate chip cookie.

This recipe will make one giant (5.5-7 inch) chocolate chip cookie that will serve two people easily - maybe even three!

When I served these giant cookies at the office I cut them into six pieces each. They're pretty rich!

Ingredients

IMG_4317.JPG
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted and cooled
  • 3 tablespoons packed light brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon egg, beaten well
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup all purpose flour (scooped and leveled for best results!)
  • 1/8 teaspoon baking soda
  • pinch of salt
  • 1/4 cup chocolate chips

You will also need a baking sheet, some parchment paper, and an oven preheated to 350 F.

Yeah, I know. I didn't use the whole egg, but this recipe is perfect and I ain't about to mess with it. You can always make a scramble while the cookie bakes if throwing away excess egg makes you break out in hives. ;)

Mix Everything Together But the Chocolate Chips

Combine everything in a small bowl and mix well with a spoon or spatula. Mix vigorously for about 30 seconds and the dough will ball up. Make sure they're aren't any dry spots and you're good to go!

Add in 3/4 of the Chocolate Chips

Add in most of the chocolate chips and mix them through the batter.

Shape and Perfect the Cookie

Take the cookie dough and shape it into a nice patty on a piece of parchment paper. My cookie was about 3-4 inches wide at this point.

Dot the top and sides with the remaining chocolate chips.

Bake!

Bake the cookie for 12-14 minutes - I honestly think less time is better with these.

The top cookie baked for 14 minutes because I was washing dishes and couldn't hear the alarm. The bottom cookie was between 12-13 minutes. Much prettier!

(Both were equally delicious - the bottom cookie was just a bit softer!)

Measure and Enjoy :D

BOOM

The lighter cookie was a little over 5 1/2 inches and the darker one ended up closer to 7 inches wide. Pretty impressive.
