Gravity Deer Feeder

I made a gravity corn feeder for deer from scrap materials laying around the property. In keeping with the theme of the contest I am entering this project in, all materials used were scraps. Even the screws were located in that bucket of leftover screws we all have in our workshop.

Supplies

Materials:

4" PVP pipe

scrap PT 2" X 4"

scrap PT 1.25" X 6" deck board

2 - 2.5" wood screws

3 - 2" construction screws

bucket wide enough to cover the feeder to keep the corn dry

Tools:

Jig saw with different blades

Battery drill with drill bits and Phillips # 2 bit

Sharpie marker

Pencil

Create the Base of the Feeder

Using the scrape 2" X 4" draw a half circle matching the inside diameter of the 4" PVC pipe.

Using the jig saw, cut the half circle out of the wood and ensure it fits within the PVC pipe.

Cut an 8" piece of the deck board.

Cut the Feed Slot

Mark a feed opening that is 3.5 inches wide and 1 inch tall on the base of the PVC pipe.

Using the jig saw cut out the opening.

Assemble the Base of the Feeder

I started out with about a 6' piece of scrape 4" PVC pipe, so the project about shows a 2 feet tall feeder. The second feed I made is 4 feet tall with a different style base for a bit of fun. The 4' feeder will hold about 1/2 of a 5-gallon bucket of corn. The 2' feeder will hold about a 1/4 of a 5-gallon bucket of corn. The first night I placed the feeders out my trail cam shows the proof that the feeders work.
