Grilled Apple Crisp

My husband and I love the taste of grilled food and I cook on our gas grill all of the time. For this Instructable, I wanted to try grilling something I had never grilled before. I thought it would be fun to make some kind of dessert! I had some Gala apples in the refrigerator and then it came to me! I could bake some apple crisp on the grill! Here is how I made it.
Supplies Needed

sharp knife
cutting board
small bowl
medium-size bowl
regular spoon
1 12-inch grilling pan with holes with a removable handle
large spoon
1 12" x 12" sheet of aluminum foil
Ingredients

4 apples, your choice
1/4 cup sugar
2 teaspoons cinnamon
1 stick butter, softened
1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup quick oats
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
Start Peeling

Preheat grill to medium heat.
Using a peeler, peel one of the apples. I chose to use gala apples but any variety would work.
Start Cutting

Cut the apple in half, then in quarters. Core each quarter.
Cut the Quarters

Cut each quarter into 3 to 4 slices.
Repeat

Cut the remaining 3 apples in the same manner.
Place all of the apples in the grill pan.
Sugar and Cinnamon

In a small bowl, combine the sugar and cinnamon.
Add to the Apples

Sprinkle the apples with the cinnamon sugar mixture.
Stir gently.
Let's Grill!

Place pan with the coated apples on the grill.
Use the Foil

Cover the pan with foil. Cook for 5 minutes.
Make the Topping

Using a spoon, in a medium bowl combine the sugar, cinnamon, butter, brown sugar, flour, quick oats and baking powder.
Stir

Remove the foil and stir the apples.
Add the Topping

Evenly sprinkle oatmeal mixture on top of the apple mixture. Place over indirect heat to avoid burning the apples. The cooking time can vary because everyone's grill is different. Mine took about 25 minutes over indirect heat.
Remove From Grill

When the topping looks fully cooked, remove the grill pan from the grill using the handle.
Ready to Serve!

My husband and I really enjoyed the texture of the apples and the crispy topping. If you try making it, I'm sure you and your family will enjoy it too!!!
