Heavy Duty Welding Table

These are plans for a heavy duty welding table

Supplies

  1. Metal Cutting Chop Saw or Horizontal Bandsaw
  2. 200 amp welder minimum (I used 0.045 solid wire)
  3. Squares, hammers, tape measure, grinders, and other metal fabrication hand tools
  4. Crane or forklift for flipping the table around (Optional)
  5. Proper PPE

Layout Materials

Top: 4" x 0.5"x 40" flatbar slats (15 each)

Cross Members and Support: 2.5" x 0.625" C Channel (2 at 72.5" and 2 at 25")

Legs: Schedule 40 5" pipe 28.125" long (4 each)

Feet: 6" OD 1/4" plate (4 each)

Casters: Heavy duty steel casters 2 swivel and 2 swivel with brake

Make All Cuts

Made most of my cuts at once, stacking them into a horizontal gravity bandsaw.

Notched tube to accept rectangular tube.

Cut feet out of 6" x 1/4" Flat bar.

Tacked rectangular tube to pipe. Made two of these.

Tacked Feet onto Pipe.

Tacked slats on the ends and cross squared

Laid out slats and tacked with rachet strap holding cross square

Tacked bottom C-channel support


Welding

Weld settings are for 0.045" solid wire

Keep cool to prevent warping, avoid welding where warp can happen

Keep welds less than 3 inches where possible

Move around to distribute heat evenly

Wait to cool down if you have to

Finishing

Debur all sharp edges and knock off any spatter with a chisel
