Homeless Housing

I made a model of the Hotel Alexandra building in Boston as homeless housing, because homelessness in Boston has become a huge issue, and I wanted to create ideas and models that can solve this problem. The new homeless housing will be affordable, and there will be a billboard in the lobby that gives homeless people resources for drug and alcohol rehabilitation. There will also be resources for job training and internships on the billboard. There will be 68 rooms with a kitchen, bedroom, and bathroom. There will also be a main lobby that has a community center in a separate room that will have the billboard inside.

Location and Ideas

I needed to decide first where my location would be. After thinking about it, I decided to use the abandoned building on 1767 Washington Street in Boston, which was originally a hotel. The location is also convenient because it's near Boston Medical Center, where a lot of homeless people tend to be.
Tinkercad Model

After deciding on a location, I created a simple model of what the Alexandra Hotel would look like as affordable homeless housing. I also created a model of what one of the rooms would look like, which includes a kitchenette, a bed, a little dining table, and a bathroom.
Physical Model

After creating a reference model on Tinkercad, I created a physical model using cardboard, colored paper. Once I created the frame of the building and made the roads, I covered the entire block using brown colored paper and using black paper for the doors and windows.
