How to Make the Super Dart Paper Airplane

The Super Dart is a simple, fast, long range interceptor paper airplane. For its simple design and construction, its level of performance is remarkable. This is a very common design, and is not my creation; I believe it was first made by Eiji Nakamura.

TAA USAF Designation: F12-1

Materials

Required:
1 Piece of 8.5 by 11 inch Paper
Tape
Optional:
Scissors (for advanced models and modifications only)

Length Folding

Take your paper and fold it along its length.

Corner Folding

Pull the corners in and fold them into the center.

Nose Folding

Pull the top down along the bottom of the previous corner folds.

Pull the Corners In, Security Folding

Pull the corners in, however not as much as before making the nose blunt. Repeat on the other side. Then pull the triangle up towards the nose over the two folds.

Wing Folding

From the previous orientation, fold the aircraft along its center line. Then pull the leading edge down to the bottom of the aircraft along the center line. Repeat on the other side.

Taping

Tape at the front and rear of the aircraft as cited in the picture.

Flight

Your Super Dart is now ready to fly. Enjoy!

There have been numerous variants spawned from the Super Dart:

F12-4 Super Dart: A normal Super Dart with large control surfaces.

EF12-1 Super Dart: A Super Dart with a large "pine tree" tail.

F137-1 StratoDart/Super Dart II: A version of Super Dart with larger wings utilizing a gull configuration.

DCF137-1 Courier Dart: A Super Dart designed as a mothership using inverted gull wings.

EF137-1 ElectroDart: An F137-1 with a "pine tree" tail.

F140-1 (originally F12-1XL) Phantom: A Super Dart using a larger wing.

EF140-1: An F140-1 with a "pine tree" tail.

F156-1: A Super Dart resembling a Lippisch P.13a delta wing interceptor.

F170-1 Shark Dart: A modified Super Dart with a small fin folded from the blunt nose to make landings easier.

EF170-1 Spark Shark: An F170-1 with a "pine tree" tail.

EA45-1 Mohawk: An EF137-1 with added anhedral ventral fins for stability. (You can also convert EF137-1 Electrodarts to this standard with a few changes made).
