How to Make the Swift Paper Airplane

Fast, long range and stable, the Swift is an excellent paper airplane that combines speed, stability and range in one airframe. The Swift would likely be a suitable successor to the Super Sabre, Dagger, and Stratoceptor paper airplanes.

Required:
1 Piece of 8.5 by 11 inch Paper
1 Large paper clip
Tape
Pencil
Ruler

Take your paper and fold it along its length. Then pull the corners in and fold them into the center.

Pull the nose down to the trailing edge. Then make marks 2 inches inwards from the leading edge along the center crease. Then pull the corners in to this mark. The airfoil's trailing edges should end at the wingtips. Then pull the small triangle that remains over the two folds.

Fold your airplane in half along its center. Then make a mark at 0.75 inches from the center crease at the front of the airplane. Then mark on each wing 0.75 inches from the wingtip along the trailing edge. Pull the wing down whilst keeping the angle of incidence 0 degrees (you can do this by aligning the trailing edge of the wing with that of the fuselage). Once each wing is folded, you can fold your winglets. Again, like the wings themselves, align the winglets' trailing edges with those of the wings.

Apply tape to your Swift at its front, back and across its rear. Then apply your large paper clip to the front of the airplane.

As the name suggests, the Swift is a fast paper airplane. At launch, give your airplane a quick throw at a neutral or slightly positive attitude. Additional surfaces applicable to the Swift include slats, air brakes, flaps, elevators, ailerons, elevons, and rudders. Enjoy!
