How to Brew Darjeeling Tea

I have just brewed a pot of freshly made first flush tea from Darjeeling of 2025 season. The teas was produced today and the garden manager was generous enough to have it sent for tasting. This one is from Puttabong Ex1. Below I am adding instructions on how to brew it correctly as most tea lovers have wanted me to share tips on how to brew them.

Supplies

We need fleshly plucked tea leaves, processed and manufactured and served piping hot like cakes straight from the factory. It's HEAVENLY, to get hands on to such lots where you receive piping hot tea leaves straight from the garden.

What You’ll Need:

  1. Loose Darjeeling tea leaves – The prima donnas of the tea world, poised for their starring role.
  2. Fresh, filtered water – Only the finest H₂O for our leafy royalty.
  3. A teapot – The grand theater where the drama unfolds.
  4. A strainer – The bouncer that keeps the leaves from crashing your cup party.
  5. Optional: A dash of milk or a slice of lemon – Fancy accessories for your tea’s wardrobe.

Awaken the Leaves

  1. Scoop 1 teaspoon of Darjeeling tea leaves per cup and gently place them in your teapot.
  2. Picture them stretching their tiny limbs, yawning like sleepy ballerinas ready to dazzle.

Heat the Water (Gently, Now!)

  1. Bring fresh water to a boil, then let it cool to 185°F (85°C)—a cozy warmth, not a fiery inferno.
  2. Darjeeling is a delicate diva; she doesn’t take kindly to being scalded.

The Graceful Pour

  1. Pour the water over the first flush tea leaves with the finesse of a spring rain kissing a flower garden.
  2. Watch them unfurl, whispering secrets of Himalayan hills as they awaken.

Steep With Patience

  1. Let the tea steep for 3-5 minutes, giving the leaves time to perform their slow, fragrant waltz.
  2. Resist the urge to rush—genius brews in quiet moments.

Strain and Serve

  1. Pour the golden elixir through a strainer into your cup, bidding adieu to the spent leaves.
  2. They’ve given their all, like actors taking a final bow after a stellar show.

Customize (If You’re Feeling Fancy)

  1. Add a splash of milk or a squeeze of lemon to jazz things up.
  2. Darjeeling’s a shape-shifter—she’ll strut her stuff however you dress her.

Savor the Moment

  1. Inhale the aroma, admire the amber glow, and take a slow, deliberate sip.
  2. Let the floral notes whisk you to misty Darjeeling hills, where clouds hug the mountains.
