This is the first part to making this incredible terrarium build. First grab your 9 by 5 cardboard box and your ruler and pencil. Then mark out your box with 4 inches in height with 6 inches in length. Then connect all of these dots and make them lines.

Once this is done you can take a box cutter and cut on the lines you just drew. This will let you lower in the touch screen later. Now that you have those lines cut out we can go to the next process of this base.

My box had more cardboard on the inside of it. So if your box has extra cardboard make sure to cut that out without ruining the main base. Also as you have your box cutters make a small hole so we can put our power cable later.

Finally we can finish the home base with the screen in place. So grab your touch screen from PI and try to put it in the face we just made. If you cut everything out correctly it should be snug to push in. To double check shake the box a little bit to see if it moves. If not great you have just finished the first part of this terrarium.

Setting Up the Terrarium

This step will require your jar, some dirt or sand, and your choice of plant. So first lets grab our jar and make sure it is clean if you are adding insects. So now that you have a clean jar we will start to add some sand or dirt. Depending on the size of your jar you wat to go 2/5 to 1/3 of the way up with dirt.

Now that you have dirt lets look at the plants. Each plant will have its own special environment. So make sure you know what it needs so you can set the water to the right amount. Once you got this lets plant the plant in the terrarium. Make sure the plant will not get crushed when you close the lid.

Once you got the lid on we are all set. This is a simple step to just get your general terrarium made. Now we can move onto our water.

Water System

This step requires a plastic cup, with a lid and straw and a water level sensor. So first the water level. We will take the sensor and attach it to the side of the cup. Make sure it is secure cause if it falls off it wont be able to do its job. Now that it is attached we will work on the cup.

The cup will only need a few things. This is water and a lid with a plastic straw. So first grab your cup and attach it to the main base box. You can do this with tape or glue. Now that you have this you can put water in it with the lid and straw attached. Now that the straw and keep it in the cup will also having one side of it in the terrarium jar. This will let the moisture of the water to go from the plastic cup to the terrarium.

Boom you are already have way through to making your vary own automatic terrarium..

This step is the longest out of them all. So first grab your PI board with the bread board and some wires with the connecter. Now connect the PI board to the bread board through a large set of fixed wires. Now in this process you can then mount your PI board to the back of the touch screen.

Next attach your water sensor level to the bread board. This will allow it connect to the main PI to help display its knowledge.

Now that you have that we need to get power and set in the touch screen. So grab your PI board and connect it with the charger it came with by pushing it into the hole we pre cut earlier. This will allow your board to come to life. Now insert everything into your main base box. This may take some room so make sure it is big enough to fit all of it.

Now grab a laptop and open up the PI coder. Now you will have to code all of this to work, however due to short timing of this project the code will not be provided so you will have to have knowledge in that area.

Now to finish the last piece just put all the components inside your main box. With the components now in there we can put the touch screen on for the last time to seal it off. Then boom you have just finished your automatic terrarium.

How to Market

Let see how we can make this presentable to market. So take your finish terrarium ad put it in front of a solid background. For this example we will be using a green screen. Once you have this photo go to google gemmi or chatGPT. Type in this prompt to get a picture like mine to come out. "Remove the green screen and put this product on a desk thats inside someones office space." This should result in you getting a final picture like mine. After that we are done, good job with putting this together as well as using the green screen.
