How to Create the Word "Aristide" for a Hot Wire Foam Cutter (CostyCNC)

In this tutorial, I’ll guide you step by step on how to design and cut the word “Aristide” using a hot wire foam cutter powered by CostyCNC. This process can be adapted to any custom name or lettering you’d like to create for decorative purposes, signage, or personal projects.

Connect to the Machine’s Wi-Fi

Open the Wi-Fi settings on your PC.

Connect to the network MLS-DLC (this will disconnect you from your home router and connect you directly to the machine).

If prompted for a password, enter: 12345678.

Access the MKS DLC32 Interface

After connecting, the MKS DLC32 standard web interface will automatically open in your browser.

  1. If it does not open by itself, manually type this address into your browser: http://192.168.4.1
  2. From here, you can:
  3. Test the machine
  4. Control the hot wire
  5. Run your custom G-code files from the SD card
  6. Update the interface, etc.
  7. In the menu, you will also find the CostyCNC option, which opens the dedicated CostyCNC page (already stored inside the MKS DLC32 Wi-Fi board).

✅ No installation is needed — the firmware is already onboard.

Open the CostyCNC Page

  1. When you click the CostyCNC button in the MKS DLC32 interface, it will open the page dedicated to the CostyCNC machine.
  2. ⚠️ Keep in mind that not all G-code creators are compatible. For example, software such as:
  3. LaserGRBL
  4. LightBurn
  5. Candle (GRBL Controller)
  6. bCNC
  7. Universal G-code Sender (UGS)
  8. may generate G-code that is not supported by CostyCNC. You can still try uploading files from these programs, but they will probably not run correctly.
  9. The CostyCNC page includes a simple text-to-G-code converter. This built-in tool uses a fixed font that cannot be changed.
  10. For more flexibility, you can use the online editor at costycnc.it/editor. This tool allows you to upload custom fonts and import images. (This will be explained in another tutorial.)

Generate G-code From Text

5.jpg

  1. In the upper-left box, type your text — for example: Aristide.
  2. Instantly, the program will create the G-code for that text.
  3. By default, the generated text will include a border, but you can customize the font settings.
  4. The G-code created will be visible in the upper-right box.

Save and Run the G-code

Save and Run the G-code

  1. Click the Write to SDCard button: the G-code will be saved directly onto the SD card (⚠️ make sure an SD card is inserted, otherwise this will not work).
  2. Then click Execute: the machine will read the G-code from the SD card and run it until the cut is complete.
  3. ✅ The process is fully independent — you can continue using your computer without worrying about blocking the machine.
  4. On this page, you can also set parameters such as image dimensions, temperature, and cutting speed, but those options will be explained in another tutorial.

👉 Enjoy your cutting with CostyCNC!

Try CostyCNC Without the Machine

7.jpg

  1. A copy of the CostyCNC program is available online at costycnc.it/cm10.
  2. This allows you to test and learn how the interface works even if you don’t have the machine connected.
  3. Of course, the buttons Write to SDCard and Run will not work without hardware, but you can still explore features such as:
  4. Creating and editing text
  5. Increasing or decreasing dimensions
  6. Enabling or disabling borders
  7. Understanding how the G-code is generated
  8. It’s a safe way to practice and get familiar with the workflow before using the real machine.
