How to Grow Strawberries Indoors in Winter

Decide what kind of strawberry is best for your needs. There are three basic types of strawberry plants, June-bearing (June bearing), everbearing (ever-bearing), or day-neutral (day neutral) strawberry plants. For winter planting, we choose everbearing or day-neutral strawberry plants. Everbearing strawberries bloom and bear fruit all year round and are plentiful (suitable outdoors in temperate climates, suitable indoors in cold climates). # Pick seeds. You can pick the seeds off with a toothpick while you eat them, or buy seeds. In order to improve the germination rate of seeds, the seeds can be wrapped in gauze before sowing, soaked for 24 hours, in the refrigerator after 0℃ ~ 3℃ low-temperature treatment for about 15 days, in order to break the dormancy of seeds.# Wash Seeds. Put the seeds in warm water at about 40℃ and wash them, and stir them continuously to soften the skin.# Soak Seeds. Soak seeds in warm water at about 25℃ for 2~3 hours, then take them out and put them on wet paper towels to promote germination.# Wait for seed germination. Every morning and evening use warm water to wet paper towels, you can sow the strawberry seeds until they sprout.

# Pour soil into the flowerpot. Pour half pot organic nutrient soil and then pour the organic fertilizer into it, and then fill normal soil until it is 90% full.# Mix soil. Mix the soil and them gently compact it with your hands.

# Spread the seeds evenly in the soil. With the white buds pointing upwards, get wet in the soil, then cover the soil with a layer of plastic film, and poke holes for ventilation; After planting, place the pot in a cool, ventilated place.# Wait for seedling emergence. Generally in 15 days the seedlings come out

# Don’t pour water directly. In the seedling period, you can only water to wet the matrix. Until the leaves come out, you can use slow water watering; When they grow to 2–3 leaves, they need to be transplanted into smaller pots separately.# Gradually increase the light. The seedlings are weak, easy to decay if not given light.# Start fertilizing. When the seedlings grow 6 leaves, start fertilizing. Every 20 days, fertilize again.

# Pollinate the flower. By the end of the winter, the plants will blossom.
