How to Make Hot Pocket Sandwich
Hello everyone! This week we're making a yummy grilled cheese + ham hot pocket sandwich, that you'll want to make over and over again! It's perfect for any occasion whether it's a picnic, a family breakfast or snacking.
Supplies
Ingredients (for 2 pieces):
• 200g / 7 oz Flour (+ about 20g / 0.7 oz for shaping)
• 130g / 4.6 oz Warm water
• 1 tsp Dry yeast
• 1 tsp Salt
• 1 tsp Sugar
• 1 tbsp Olive oil
• 100g / 3.5 oz Turkey ham
• 120g / 4.2 oz Cheese (grated)
• 20g / 0.7 oz Ketchup
• 20g / 0.7 oz Mayonnaise
• 1 tsp Italian seasoning
Make the Dough
To make the dough mix the flour, salt, sugar and dry yeast together. Add warm water and olive oil and mix until a dough ball forms. Cover the dough and leave it to rest for 15 minutes.
Shape & Roll
Shape the dough into a log and cut it into four equal pieces. Roll each piece into a ball, then flatten them into circles using a rolling pin. Try to make them as close to the same size as possible (about 0.5 cm thick and 18 cm or 7 inch in diameter).
Stuff the Pocket
Take one dough circle and spread a tablespoon of ketchup in the middle, leaving the outer edges clean. Sprinkle with Italian seasoning and some grated cheese. Add 2–3 slices of turkey ham, spread mayonnaise on top and add another layer of cheese. Cover with another 2–3 slices of ham, a bit more ketchup and Italian seasoning, and finish with a final layer of cheese. Lightly wet the empty outer edge of the dough with water. Place a second dough circle on top and press the edges firmly together so they stick. Repeat this entire process with the remaining two pieces of dough to make your second sandwich.
Pan & Taste
Preheat a pan over medium low heat. Gently place one pocket sandwich into the pan and cover it with a lid. Cook for about 3 to 5 minutes until a golden brown crust forms. Gently flip it over using a spatula (or your hand, if comfortable) so it doesn't open or break. Cover with the lid again and cook the other side for another 2 to 3 minutes until golden and the cheese is melted. Once ready, place the sandwich on a wooden board and cut it down the middle. Enjoy! :)
