How to Make Plain Homemade Pancakes

Do you like pancakes? Because I sure do!

In this instructable, you'll make homemade pancakes from scratch :)

If you're inexperienced or a young age, I suggest a supervisor/helper (adult or somebody experienced)

I've made plain pancakes from home for a tasty breakfast! I made these for my family and me, but you can make it just for you or whoever you want. These pancakes are fairly simple, and don't take too long to make.

Supplies

Materials/Ingredients

  1. Flour (250 ml/1 cup)
  2. Baking powder (10 ml/2 tsp)
  3. Salt (2 ml/ 1 pinch)
  4. Milk (250ml/1 cup)
  5. 1 egg
  6. Vegetable oil (30 ml/2 tbsp)

-----------------------------

  1. 1 large pan
  2. 1 large or medium bowl
  3. 1 measuring cup (as seen in image) or a smaller cup/bowl
  4. Fork or whisk
  5. Spatula (size depends on pancake size, sometimes you have to use a big one!)

The photos of materials are what I am using to measure, and the separate ingredients.

Wet & Dry Ingredients

Dry - Put together 1 cup of flour, 2 teaspoons of baking powder, 1 pinch of salt (I do just a few shakes of my salt shaker) into the large bowl, and mix it around to make it even for the next step

Wet - In the measuring cup, put 1 cup of milk, 2 tbsp of vegetable oil, and crack 1 egg into the cup and mix it around with the fork/whisk until at least the majority is all mixed together.

Mixing the Dry & Wet

Make a well (dent) in the middle of the dry ingredients. Slowly pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients while mixing. Make sure to get the walls of the bowl because there may be some flour stuck there. Mix until there are minimal lumps, it's okay to have some.

Starting the Cooking!

Heat the pan over medium heat, and lightly oil it. You will know it's heated enough if the oil moves around on its own when you slightly tilt the . Pour the batter (as much as you want, although I try to go for at least 3 pancakes) onto the pan.

Cooking the Batter

When small bubbles start appearing all around the pancake, flip the pancake. If it's looking a little light, just wait for the other side to finish, and flip it back over to cook it more. If the pancakes seem to be cooking too fast, then you can, of course, lower the heat.

You can serve these with anything you want! I enjoy some maple syrup and butter.

Finish :)

Now you can enjoy your pancakes!

You can serve them with anything, I especially enjoy maple syrup and butter :) You could try with chocolate chips, blueberries, anything that seems suitable!

Making pancakes teaches you, and me, about the basics of cooking! These pancakes are the first thing that I have cooked, and now I can do it over and over again. Pancakes are delicious, and now I can make them for myself, by myself. Pancakes are basically the most basic thing you can make, that you can make a lot of. I enjoyed making pancakes, they are really tasty.
