How to Make a Homemade Pinball Machine

Pinball machine.png

This project is about a Pinball machine. It’s an old school game that upon playing you must launch a ball with a launcher, after you do this the ball falls down into the area with obstacles. You have to keep the ball from falling in the hole, and earn the highest score by hitting obstacles. To hit the ball, you must hit then with the flippers inside the pinball machine. To make them move, there will be two buttons on the side of the machine. however this will be homemade, so making this whole thing is a 6/10 difficulty.

Supplies

LED lights, Arduino board, music player, Wood, Bumpers, paper graphic, pinball flippers, pegs, launcher, and 3D printed Christmas decorations (optional), nails, rubber bands, hot glue, hot glue gun, power drill, 3D printer, table saw, and band saw.

Making Parts Online

Step 1: make each piece, such as the walls of the pinball machine or ball, in a 3D software such as OnShape. This is so you’ll be able to see how you want your pinball machine to look. Look at the measurements of each part you make and draw them on OnShape to keep track of the measurements.

Extra and Coding

Step 2: Any 3D parts you want printed such as custom screws, decorations, or obstacles should be 3D printed. Graphics you made should be put into a PDF print and should be saved until you have built the pinball machine base and walls. Then start working on the code for the LED lights and music for your pinball machine.

Step 3: After 3D printing the pieces you want, look back at OnShape and look at the measurements of the pieces you made in OnShape, then start making them.

Paper Graphics

Step 4: After making the pieces for the pinball machine, put together the base of the pinball machine, the walls, then put your paper graphic inside of the machine.

Setting Up

Step 5: Start putting the obstacles , decorations, and ball launcher where you think suits the pinball machine. Then put the LED lights inside the pinball machine and hide the music player.

Review and Offer for Feedback

Step 6: once you're done, begin playing and let other people test out your creation to give feedback on what you did right or wrong, and gain ideas for your pinball machine.
