Want to make a paper airplane that not only flies but soars across the room? This step-by-step guide will show you how to fold a streamlined paper airplane designed for long-distance flights. Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned folder, you'll enjoy creating this easy yet effective design.
Supplies
Tools
- 1 A4 size paper.
Fold the Paper in Half
- Instructions: Begin with a standard A4 sheet of paper. Fold it in half lengthwise (hotdog style) to create a central crease. Unfold the paper to use the crease as a guide for future folds.
- Pro Tip: Run your fingernail along the fold for a sharper crease.
Unfold and Then Fold the Top Corners to the Center Line.
- Instructions: Take the top two corners and fold them inward so they meet at the center line. This creates a triangular point at the top.
Fold the Top Point Down to the Edge of the Previous Fold
- Instructions: Take the top point and fold it downward, aligning it with the bottom edge of the previous fold. Ensure it's symmetrical for optimal flight.
Fold the Upper Sides to the Center Line
Instructions: Fold the two angled edges toward the center line, creating a slimmer and more streamlined triangular shape.
Fold the Top About 1/2 Inch (13mm)away From You
Instructions: Fold the top portion of the airplane slightly outward, approximately 1/2 inch (13mm), to create a flap that stabilizes the structure.
Fold the Plane in Half Towards You
- Instructions: Fold the entire airplane in half along the central crease so the flaps are on the outside. This will form the body of the plane.
Fold Both Flaps Out to Create the Wings. the Body Will Be About Half an Inch (13mm) Tall.
- Instructions: Fold each side of the paper outward to create wings. The body of the plane should be about 1/2 inch (13mm) thick when complete.
- Pro Tip: Slightly angle the wings upward for better lift and stability during flight.
