How to Make a Super Easy Pi-themed Crochet Garland!

This instructable teaches you how to make this super easy crochet pi garland that you can hang up as decoration around your home!

Supplies

For this garland, I used white yarn from amazon (pretty much any yarn will work) and a crochet hook (in my case, 3.5mm worked best!).

The types of stitches used are the following:

slip stitch

single crochet

chain

half double crochet

double crochet

For this project, you should have a basic understand of these stitches. If not, you can search them up. They are pretty easy to figure out.

Making the Base Chain for the First Pi

First, make a slip knot. Chain 12.

Then, turn around and skip the first stitch, and then do 11 single stitches.

Turning Around and First Pi Leg

To turn around, add 3 more stitches into the last stitch so that you have 4 in total. Then, in the backside of the chain that you made in the last step, you are going to do two stitches (not together, in different chain spaces). Then, chain 7 from there.

Finishing the First Pi Leg

Then, turn around and skip the first stitch. In the second stitch, put a half double crochet and a double crochet in the same stitch (in this order).

Then, in the next stitch, put a half double crochet.

To finish the first leg, keep going down the leg until all the chains have a single stitch in them. You should have done 4 single stitches in all, and 7 different stitches in total.

Finally, do a single stitch into the next (original) line of the pi.

Next Pi Leg

Do 3 more single stitches in the next 3 chain spaces.

Chain 7 again.

Repeat step 3 from here.

Then, do one more stitch in the next chain space and finally, do two more single crochets in the final chain space (which should really be the chain space from the beginning, back in step 1).

Slip stitch to the first single crochet that you did.

Next Pi

You are done first your fist pi!

Next, chain 19.

Turn around, skip the first chain, and single crochet 11.

From here, you can just go back to step 2 and keep going until you reach this step.

Making More Pi's

To continue the garland so that it is long enough to hang, simply follow the steps 1-5 (excluding the slip knot) again and again until you reach your desired length.

You finished!
