How to Make an Ocean in a Jar

av9y20.jpg

This nifty project doesn't take much time and can be made with things you probably already have!

Supplies

  1. A Pint Jar
  2. Water, Approximately 1/2 Cup
  3. Oil, Approximately 1/2 Cup
  4. Blue Food Colouring
  5. Small Seashells
  6. Sequins
  7. Glitter

Put One Drop of Blue Colouring in the Jar

You can adjust it to your preference, but be sure to start with just a drop since adding too much will make it opaque.

Fill 2/3 With Water

Add Sequins, Glitter, and Shells

At this step you can get creative and add your own touch of nautical element, such as a bit of dish soap for sea foam!

Top Off the Jar With Oil

Baby oil works very well, but plain ol' cooking oil will work too.

Screw the Lid on Tight and Give It a Good Shake!

Make sure the lid is on right or you'll have a big mess!

Enjoy Your Ocean in a Jar!
