How to Plant a Plant
We chose to make our instructable based on this project for the kids next year. In our instructable, we will demonstrate how to properly take care of plants when transporting them from one area to another, and how to plant them.
Supplies
Plants, containers, water, shovel (optional)
Checking the Plant
You want to check the stem of the plant. Make sure the stem and roots aren't mushy or brittle. If they are, the plant is most likely dead.
Carefully Take the Plant Out
Take the plant out of the container or pot it is in. Make sure to be very careful with the roots and stem. If the stem breaks, the plant will most likely die.
Dig a Hole for the Plant.
Dig a hole large enough for the roots and part of the stem to fit inside of it. Make sure to check the back of your seed packet to know how deep the hole should be, and how far to keep it from other plants.
Water the Hole
Pour water into the hole. You want to water the hole to ensure the soil is completely moist and ready for the plant to go in it.
Transferring Plant
Carefully transplant the plant into the hole you just dug. Make sure you are careful with the roots, and make sure , they are all completely inside of the hole. Then, put dirt around the plant and make sure it is level and compacted so the plant has support and is able to stand on its own.
Watering
Water the plant again. Make sure to also water the area around the plant.
Making Plant Secure
This step should only be used if your plant is droopy or large. You can tie the stem of the plant to a stick of some kind of support to make sure it does not fall over. We used a stick.
Final Step!
Label the plant so you don't get them confused with other plants.
