How to Play Robots, Witches and Warriors (Suit Duel) Card Came

Woriors Witces and Robots (1).png

This is a War like card game played with a standard set of cards That can be played with 2, 3, or 4 players. War has 2 flaws in my mind: 1) it is only a 2 player game 2) there is no strategy involved, It is 100% luck of the cards. I wanted this game to require a bit of strategy, and include 2-4 players. There are a few more rules than war, but it is a TON of fun!!!

The battles include:

  1. Warriors (Kings)
  2. Witches (Queens)
  3. Robots (Jacks)

Supplies

1 standard deck of cards

Goal of the Game

The goal is to win all the cards (like war). If you lose all your cards, you are still in the game…more on this later.

Before You Play

Separate the deck out by suit. Each player chooses a suit and gets those cards. Remaining cards get put aside and are not used (in a 2 or 3 person game).

Each player pulls the jack (robot) out and places it face up in front of you. This card can be played strategically during game-play.

Each player can order the deck however they want before the beginning of play. This is only done once at the beginning of the game. DO NOT overlook this step... this is where a lot of strategy takes place.

Game Play

Every player throws a card down at the same time from the top of their deck (like war). The highest card wins, but…

Kings- (Warriors): if a player wins with a king, they win the pile AND take 3 cards from any player from the TOP of their deck

Queens- (Witches): if a player wins with a queen, they win the pile AND take 3 cards from any player from the BOTTOM of their deck

Jacks- (Robots): Can be used to break a tie. If at any point there is a tie (more on ties later). The first player to throw their jack into the pile wins and wins the pile.

  1. NOTE: Once a Jack is played, it is turned over. It cannot be played again until all players play their Jack
  2. Once all players have played their jack, they are all turned back over and can be played again

Aces- Aces are high in this game… they beat everything.

If you win a round, the cards are collected, not shuffled, and placed directly on the bottom of your deck.

if a player loses all their cards, they are out of play, HOWEVER, if their Jack (robot) is playable, they still can “jack in”... send in their robot and win the pile on a tie. They continue to play with the cards they win.

Ties

If there is a tie, nothing happens (kings, queens, aces and numbers are ignored), all the cards remain in the pile and are eligible to be won next round….. UNLESS :

  1. someone plays their Jack. The first person to play your jack gets the pile.
  2. there is an Ace played… aces beat everything

If two kings are played OR two queens are played, they cancel each other out…nothing happens, all the cards remain in the pile ….. UNLESS:

  1. someone plays their Jack. The first person to play your jack gets the pile.
  2. there is an Ace played… aces beat everything

If a King and a Queen are playing at the same time, it is considered a tie.

therefore:

  1. the cards are left on the table
  2. there are no consequence (you do not follow the king and queen rules)
  3. a Jack can win the pile.
  4. an Ace beats everything (if in play)

Optional Add On: Aces=TIME WARP!!!

Aces- (Time warp): Whoever won last round, wins again. It does not matter how they won, whether by high number, jack, king or queen.

NOTE:

  1. All kings, queens, etc. are ignored and you just repeat exactly what happened last round.
  2. If you won with a king or queen, You get to choose a player and get another 3 cards.

  1. Example 1:
  2. first round: P1 plays a 2, P2 plays a 3, and P3 plays a 10. P3 wins.
  3. Next Round: P1 plays a K, P2 plays an A, P3 plays a 5. P3 wins BECAUSE P3 won last round and whatever happened last round happens again.
  4. Example 2:
  5. first round: P1 plays a King, P2 plays a 3, and P3 plays a 6. P1 wins AND gets 3 cards from another player.
  6. Next Round: P1 plays a 5, P2 plays an A, P3 plays a 7. P1 wins AND gets 3 cards from another player (like last round).

Aces and ties: Remember aces are time warps (whoever wins last round wins again), so if someone throws an ace on the round AFTER a tie...

  1. whoever won the tie last round (with their jack) wins again.
  2. If no one played their jack, nothing happens, the cards stay on the table to be won next

Have Fun… Add Rules!!!

That’s it. Have fun an add rules. Make it what you want. If you add a fun rule and it makes it better, add it to the comments!!!!
