The link below is for a video that demonstrates how to make digital contact sheets from 35 mm film negatives. You'll need a lightbox, film negative archival sheets, a piece of glass to hold the negatives flat, a digital camera, and VueScan scanning software.

This process will allow you to quickly convert the hundreds or thousands of negatives that you may have into a fair quality digital contact sheets/proofs sheets, and then you can select your favorite images to convert into higher quality digital images.
