How to Make a Water Filter

Materials needed:

  • plastic bottle
  • square piece of rag/cloth
  • rocks/pebbles/gravel
  • sand
  • cotton balls
  • coffee filter cut in 2 pieces
  • rubber band

Step 1:

Take a plastic bottle make sure you washed it and then cut the bottom part off from the water bottle.

Take off the cap and cut out a square piece from a rag or a cloth. This helps not to let anything spill out and holds any extra dirt and other materials.

Into your bottle add a good amount of rocks or pebbles. This helps trap the dirt and lets the water go through.

After the rocks you have to layer the cotton balls on top of the rocks make sure that it is really covered.The cotton balls are really soft and that will make the water go through better and clean the water.

Once you have layered the cotton balls.The next step is to put your coffee filter on top of the cotton balls this will prevent big chunks of excess materials.

Lastly is the sand just pour sand on top of the coffee filter. The sand will help start the water process. The sand helps clean out the small pieces of excess substances.
