KTM 250/390 Adv High Mudguard Mount

IMG_9140.JPG

Hello,

This project is designed to install a high-mounted off-road fender for KTM Adventure 250/390 motorcycles, replacing the lower fender on the front wheel. When riding off-road, excessive mud can cause blockage and compression between the standard lower fender and the tire. I planned to replace it with a high-mounted crossover fender.

Supplies

#17 - KTM 390 Adventure | Budget High Fender Hack

I was inspired by the video below when creating this design.

Design and Drawing

To do this, I took the hole dimensions of an existing off-road fender and traced them onto a plate using Fusion360. Then, I also traced the two available screw holes on the motorcycle's lower bracket onto the plate.

Print Drawing and Cutting

You can cut the plate from 2-3 mm thick galvanized or aluminum, or you can have it laser-cut. I printed the design drawing on A4 size, attached it to the plate, and cut it out with a Dremel.

Folding and Mouting to Offroad Fender

I mounted the plate to the off-road fender using four M6x20mm bolts, four 6x16mm washers, and four M6 fiber-reinforced nuts.

Mounting to Bracket

I used two M6x60mm bolts and two M6x40mm risers to connect the bracket to the plate. I also added M6 washers to all contact areas and secured the new fender with two M6 fiber nuts.

Lower Fender Triming

They also cut the shock absorber guard off the lower fender and use it in other projects. Instead, you can purchase just the shock absorber guard.
