Knight- a Board Game to Fight Your Fears

You can only learn to swim by jumping in the water and in the same way you can only get over your fears by facing them.

I have created a board game meant to force you to face your fears and give you a chance to fail with your friends so you know its not all that bad. This game will also help you get over fears like that of social anxiety, public speaking, and you can also customize it to suit your self.

I personally have the fear of failing, of not being good enough, and an annoying habit of trying to be perfect at the very first go and that is exactly why I haven't been able to take part in any of the previous contests. Fear of not winning.

But I take this as the perfect opportunity to put together something and enter in, not worrying about the final result.

Supplies

Pens and colors

scissors and other art supplies

(or you could just use a printer)

Dice- physical or digital

Game pieces- could even use coins or bits of colored paper

You can either digitally design your board like me and print it out or make one using art supplies.

Use the above image as a guide for your layout.

I used Canva and chose a size of 20x20 in for my board, I have attached the pdf for you to download

Game Cards

These can also be made digitally or handmade.

feel free to customize them to your liking.

Here are some of my Favorite ideas:

  1. Call an old classmate and ask them how they are
  2. Call a restaurant and pitch them a website idea
  3. Ask another player to teach you something they are good at
  4. Sing a song out loud
  5. Act out your favorite movie scene
  6. look at the picture of a spider (If people in the group have arachnophobia)
  7. look out of a high window (If people in the group have acrophobia)

The challenges can be customized to fit your circle

Rules

  1. All players start from "Fight your Fears"
  2. Players roll the dice to advance forward
  3. If you land on "accept a challenge" then the group gets to select a challenge for you and you have to do it
  4. Landing on "Rock, Paper, Scissors" means you challenge any player to a game of rock, paper, scissors. winner gives the loser a task.
  5. "Draw a card"- You draw a pre-made challenge card.
  6. "Give a Challenge"- You give any player of your choice a challenge
  7. "Reflect"- Think about a time when things didn't go as planned. Reflect on how it wasn't a big deal and what you learnt from it. Share the story with other players and understand why losing isn't bad.
  8. "Safe"- You don't need to do anything
  9. "Miss a chance"- You can use this anytime in the game to avoid doing a challenge

Also feel free to add other spots on the game or make changes to already existing ones

Points:

Players earn points for every challenge they complete, and lose two points every time they refuse.

Winner is player with most points at the end of the game
